Joining the Bass Strait Aquatic Club

Anyone interested in scuba diving is welcome to apply to join the Bass Strait Aquatic Club. You may be looking to learn to dive, or already be a BSAC, PADI, SDI/TDI, NAUI, SSI, CMAS or other agency certified diver.

Membership is in two parts. First you apply to become a member of the Bass Strait Aquatic Club branch. Then when accepted, we sign you up as a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club itself (unless you're already a current BSAC UK member).

Step One: Membership Form

Please download a Bass Strait Aquatic Club Membership Form from this web site. Or pick up a copy at The Scuba Doctor in Rye, Victoria. You'll need one copy for each diver applying.

Complete the BSAC Membership Form, plus make a photocopy of your diving certification card(s), and any diving medical certificate you have which is less than five years old. Then get it all to us — delivery details are on the form.

When the committee approves your application, you'll then be notified and required to register with the British Sub-Aqua Club (if you're not already a BSAC UK member), plus pay all of your membership fees.

Step Two: Register with the British Sub-Aqua Club

Once the Bass Strait Aquatic Club committee has approved your application, you'll be required to register as a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club, if you're not already a BSAC UK member.

To register with BSAC UK via the Bass Strait Aquatic Club, each diver needs to complete a BSAC Registration Form & Temporary Receipt form and a BSAC UK Sport Diver Self Declaration Medical Form. Again, it's one of each form per diver. You can do this at any branch meeting, or by dropping into The Scuba Doctor, in Rye, Victoria.

When completing the BSAC Registration Form & Temporary Receipt form you'll need to know:

Branch Name:
Bass Strait Aquatic Club
Branch Number:
2396
Branch Common Renewal Date:
01 / 08 / 2009

If you're an existing BSAC UK renewing/transfering to our branch, you'll also need to know your BSAC UK membership number.

Medical Form - You will also need to download and complete a self-declaration medical form. This is essential for your BSAC Third Party Life Insurance.

Step Three: Membership Fees

Bass Strait Aquatic Club: You will need to pay the membership fees of the Bass Strait Aquatic Club branch. Currently this is only A$25 for individual divers and A$15 for each abated* diving member. This provides you will access to our local facilities, services, benefits and discount offers.

* Abated members are family diving members living at the same address.

British Sub-Aqua Club: The BSAC UK membership fee for most individual scuba divers is £45.50 (approx A$115). This entitles you to receive the BSAC UK benefits such as the monthly BSAC DIVE magazine, dive insurance and the opportunity to do further training in a not for profit BSAC branch, i.e. the Bass Strait Aquatic Club.

Of course, if you are already a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club, you will only need to pay the A$25 membership fee to join the Bass Strait Aquatic Club.

BSAC UK also offers a BSAC Direct membership option for £50.50 (approx A$140), which you can sign up for online. But you'll save yourself some money if you join BSAC via a local branch, e.g. the Bass Strait Aquatic Club.
