About BSAC

Whether you have tried diving on holiday, or even if you have already qualified with another diving organisation... the Bass Strait Aquatic Club is for you.

We are a friendly scuba diving club based in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula in the state of Victoria, Australia. Our primary aim is to offer frequent opportunities for you to dive the excellent sites in Victoria, interstate and overseas, all year round.

We Dive Locally on the piers, reefs, walls and wrecks in the temperate waters of Bass Strait, Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay, all year round. We offer an extensive Diving Calendar of dive days, scuba diving trips and scuba training all year round. From beginner, to advanced diver, to tekkie diver, to instructor — we have something to offer everyone.

We welcome qualified divers from all training agencies

If you are Already Qualified as a diver then going diving with us is easy. Just join the Bass Strait Aquatic Club, plus the British Sub-Aqua Club, and go diving with us!

Of course, if you trained with BSAC elsewhere in the world, you are certainly most welcome and you should find everything very familiar. If you qualified through another agency (i.e. PADI, SDI/TDI, SSI, NAUI, SAA, SSAC etc.) and want to further your training, there is a simple cross-over process, which will give you an equivalent BSAC diving grade.

For those who want further training, we offer the full range of courses from the BSAC diver training programmes (Ocean Diver, Sports Diver, Dive Leader, Advanced Diver, First Class Diver), plus skill development courses (Rescue, Seamanship, Technical, Special Interests) and instructor training programmes.

We take pride in the quality and safety of the dive leadership and instruction provided by our club volunteers. Our safety standards are set high and we take great care to look out for each other while diving.

If you are a Diving Instructor, you can easily cross over to a lifelong BSAC qualification, with no renewal of instructor status, and teach diving with any branch or BSAC Centre anywhere in the world.

Whatever your experience, if you want to enjoy great scuba diving in good company, plus the highest standards of training, then Join the Club and experience why the Bass Strait Aquatic Club is for you.

About BSAC UK

For more than 50 years in the UK, the prestigious British Sub-Aqua Club has been the controlling body for scuba diving and the leading training agency. Today it is the biggest dive club in the world.

The British Sub-Aqua Club is by any measure a quite extraordinary organisation. Formed and run throughout its existence by enthusiastic and dedicated members, the club has successfully competed with commercially orientated bodies and has thrived in the process. From its beginnings the club has received world-wide recognition as a leader, standard-setter and innovator in the field of sport diving.

There are thousands of dive clubs around the UK and the world, that operate as branches of BSAC UK. You join both the branch and BSAC UK.

Thus you gain access to all of the resources and Benefits of both BSAC UK and your local branch. Plus you are free to be a member of more than one branch.

Other BSAC UK branches here in Australia include:

Bass Strait Aquatic Club

The Bass Strait Aquatic Club is branch number 2396 of the British Sub-Aqua Club. Thus all of our club members are also members of the British Sub-Aqua Club.

The Bass Strait Aquatic Club is based in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula. We are fortunate in that a generous local dive shop, The Scuba Doctor, lets us use their premises as our dive club home, plus sponsors the club. However, the Bass Strait Aquatic Club is in every way totally independent of the dive shop, and we operate as a non profit branch of BSAC UK.

The club is a club for divers, run by divers, with volunteer instructors and volunteer club officers.

The membership of the Bass Strait Aquatic Club includes divers with a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and diving experience. Members live all over Melbourne. The thing they have in common is a love of diving from the Mornington Peninsula in the temperate waters of Bass Strait, Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay.
